How to keep your lead acid batteries in good shape :
◊ Always keep the battery charged.
◊ Do not over-charge a battery (usually the best rate is 1/10 of the Ah capacity)
Quick chargers are very bad for a battery ... although sometimes necessary.
◊ Before a long storage period (winter) fully charge the battery, and at least once every
two months recharge the battery.(Better to use continuous trickle charge)
(If the trickel charge source is a solar PV panel, remove snow from PV panels during the
winter or vertically position the PV panel)
◊ Do not overheat a battery.
◊ Never allow the electrolyte to freeze.
◊ Check the electrolyte level in each element and refill with distilled water only.
◊ Attach firmly the battery into your vehicule in order to avoid shocks to breake the case .
◊ Keep the + and - terminals clean in order to avoid the corrosion to get inside the case.
◊ Do not let the electrolyte to bubble for long periods except during the equalization, as it
mechanically destroys the internal structure.
